В результате ряда исследований были предложены различные теории этиологии и патогенеза эндометриоза. В этом обзоре рассматриваются существующие теории о причине и жизненном цикле эндометриоза во всех его фенотипах. Однако, несмотря на обширные исследования, сложные первопричины развития эндометриоза остаются неопределенными, и ни одна теория не может объяснить каждый случай эндометриоза. По нашему мнению, должна существовать одна теория, которая может объяснить все фенотипы эндометриоза и которая стоит за «единственной» причиной, запускающей все другие пути в патофизиологии эндометриоза.

Despite extensive investigations, the causes of endometriosis and mechanisms of its development are largely unknown. Here we review the existing theories, analyzing the risk factors and triggers of endometriosis. We suggest that all cases of endometriosis are initiated through a common pathophysiological mechanism which involves all downstream molecular pathways.
