На протяжении нескольких десятилетий были разработаны и использованы различные  лабиринты,  такие  как  спиральный лабиринт  Баттига,  радиальный  и  водный  лабиринты, лабиринт открытой местности и т.д. При этом каждый тип лабиринта внес различный уникальный вклад к лучшему пониманию пространственной памяти. Однако в настоящее время существует два основных типа лабиринтов, которые обычно используются для оценки пространственного обучения и памяти: водный лабиринт Морриса и восьмирукавный радиальный лабиринт. В данном обзоре проанализированы тесты «Восьмирукавный радиальный лабиринт» и «Водный лабиринт Морриса», показаны их преимущества и недостатки.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Rodents are widely used for the evaluation of the spatial memory due to inherited predisposition and relatively  easy  training.  A  number  of  mazes  have been successfully developed and used, with Morris water maze and eight-arm radial maze being two the most appropriate.
